Left fielder Carlos Gonzalez went deep and had 2 RBI as the Detroit Iron
Gloves outscored the Langley Farm Team 4 to 2.
Detroit claimed the early lead in the first inning scoring one runner. After
an out was recorded, Scott Rolen was hit by a pitch. Ryan Braun struck out,
unable to help the rally. Miguel Tejada then doubled. Michael Aubrey
followed, but he was set down on strikes. Langley threatened in the 9th but
their rally came up short.
The victory was credited to Wandy Rodriguez(12-7) who went 7 innings, allowing
2 runs. Rodriguez got help from Rafael Soriano who was credited with his 21st
save. The losing pitcher was Josh Beckett(12-9).
Mike Wilson was in a talkative mood in the clubhouse, 'Great game! If only we
could win all of the close ones - wouldn't that be nice! Since that's not
going to happen, I think I'll savor this one for a little while.'
